POLAND – It’s National School Bus Safety Week, and two new
school buses arrived at Poland Central School District this week.
Poland regularly buys two or three new buses each year to
keep its fleet of 21 buses working efficiently and to cut down on maintenance
costs. These buses were purchased from Leonard Bus Sales Inc.
“With the fleet, you
want to keep a consistent rotation,” said Jon Leonard, transportation advisor
at Leonard Bus Sales Inc.
The following is a glance at each of the two new buses:
- Bus No. 131: This is a full-size, Type C bus,
which fits 66 passengers. It has zero emissions and is about 20 times more
environmentally clean than the 2004 Type C bus it replaces.
- Bus No. 130: This is a smaller, Type A bus, which fits 22 passengers. It is significantly more efficient and has better fuel economy than the 2009 Type A bus it replaces.
“The emissions are lower, and they have better mileage with
them,” Poland Transportation Supervisor Jeff DeLucia said.
